Stretching the soul - Yoga & India

In October 2018 I embarked upon a one month life-changing adventure in India. The Himalayan Yoga Institute led my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in Auroville, a future community in the heart of the South.

At first, it was an assault to the senses - a whirlwind of colour, loud vehicles honking along, and of course a sea of faces speaking a language that babbled fast past my comprehension.

As I acclimatised to the deep vibrational energy of my new environment, I began to resonate with its flow of life. Every face bore a welcoming smile; a warm openness and contentedness with this basic existence. The colours became a feeling, a never-ending motion of spirituality and sensation, permeating every action of daily life.

I have always felt that physical and mental health are a great priority. This training allowed me to delve into my greatly unexplored mind and find a comforting understanding of the universe and, of course, my place in it.

My ‘practice’ now goes beyond the physical asanas that the western world perceives as yoga. It extends to meditation and sharing the power of the collective mind. My practice also includes what I put into my body, understanding the energetic qualities of the food we eat.

My personal journey with food has led me to a point where I want to nourish myself with only the freshest and best ingredients, those which have not travelled far or been processed beyond recognition. It is this core value of ethically and locally sourced ingredients that I wish to share with my clients as we experience this food together.
